The ‘Bijli Bill Vivad Samadhan Scheme’, which was launched by chief minister Arvind Kejriwal at August 30 for a calendar month, has been extended multiple times.
The senior power department official said there was no decide to extend the scheme further than May.
“Under the plan, consumers in slum groupings are being charged `250 a month for the period in which they may have not paid dues. They also have the option of paying it with instalments over six months. Typically the late payment surcharge were found to be waived for them. All criminal or civil proceedings had been also withdrawn against those who voluntarily disclosed having tampered with meters. There is, however , not any plan to extend it, ” he said.
The official stated till April 1, sixty-eight, 000 cases had been paid out under the scheme.
Govt makes simple procedure to apply for power connection
The Delhi government has simplified the procedure to apply for the electricity connection for all individuals in the capital.Power secretary Sukesh Kumar Jain at Monday said the government a short while ago advised the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) to make the electricity connection application form less complicated. He said the DERC had been asked to reduce the amount of documents to be enclosed to two irrespective of load and also category.
At present, the papers needed to be submitted are evidence of ownership, ID proof, test report, architect certificate, address proof, indemnity bond, NOC of owner, etc .
Jain said the proposal had been implemented and now consumers looking for electricity connection in Delhi would apply through a less complicated form that required anyone to enclose only two docs.
The officer said typically the step would help business oriented and industrial consumers inside the capital.
