Tamil Nadu records 69.19 per cent voting till 5 pm
An estimated 69.19 per cent voter turnout was recorded till 5 pm at elections held for 232 assembly constituencies in Tamil Nadu Monday.
Madurai, Tiruchirapalli and in some places in southern districts are experiencing rains which in turn has slowed down the voting.
There were also reports of malfunctioning of voting machines in some places.
In Chennai, voting was at a brisk pace.
AIADMK chief and Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalithaa, after exercising her franchise at a polling station in Stella Maris College around 10.00 am, told reporters that 'people's verdict will be known in two days'.
"You have waited for so long, if you wait for two more days, everybody will come to know of people's verdict," she said.
DMK chief M. Karunanidhi and the state leader of BJP Tamilisai Soundararajan have cast their votes.
Actors like Rajinikanth, Ajith also cast their ballots.
